Get to Know Your Nervous System - A Beginner's Guide

The nervous system is the body’s command center for handling how we feel, think, and react to the world around us. This talk will introduce basic concepts of Polyvagal Theory, which explains how our bodies decide if we are feeling safe or if we need to be alert. This decision-making process is often automatic and affects our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. Come learn how to use simple techniques to help regulate your nervous system and operate your calming button. By doing so, you can feel more relaxed and connected with others and improve your overall well-being. Everyone will leave with practical tools to understand their own reactions to stress, making everyday interactions smoother and more enjoyable, thus impacting their relationships with themselves, others, and the world around them.

Dr. Keri Johnson is the owner of Mindful Therapy with Keri. She is a Somatic Trauma Therapist and Educator specializing in Nervous System Regulation and Holistic Mental Health for Body, Mind, Heart, and Spirit Wellness. She provides individual and group counseling, online courses, and retreats to help empower people to learn how to understand their nervous system and transform their trauma in order to create a life of wholehearted healing and wellness.
